How do you improve on an institution? Just ask Winnie and Bob Clowry who became the proprietors of the LeBus restaurant in Manayunk ten years ago. The purchase of a well known brand may have been daunting, but to these two entrepreneurs it was a cinch. "We recognized that LeBus was an integral part of the Manayunk restaurant community. We not only wanted to protect the well known eatery, we saw opportunities to improve it," says Winnie, who still spends just about every waking hour at the restaurant, which now bears her moniker, Winnie's LeBus of Manayunk. "I am a fixture here because it is absolutely essential for the owner to work hands-on, to keep the passion for good food and service alive."

It is no coincidence that Winnie's features artisan bread at every table. The restaurant was an original off shoot of LeBus Artisan Bakery. The challenge was to keep the brand, yet support it with fresh ideas, new menu items, responsible management, and a keen desire to develop a relationship with the Manayunk Philadelphia community. The evolution shows.
A visit to Winnie's still offers comfort food; the brunch is particularly abundant. Portions are generous and the service, from bar to table, is welcoming. You can grab a complimentary newspaper at the bar and make yourself right at home.
Winnie's has been so successful that it naturally developed a growing catering business. "We started to get a lot of requests from regular diners to cater parties and corporate luncheons," says Chef John O'Brien, who has been with the restaurant since it changed hands. The catering has grown exponentially.
Catering clients now include:
• The Mann Center for the Performing Arts
• The Pennsylvania Horticultural Society
• The Dad Vail Regatta
• The Head of the Schuylkill Regatta
• East River Bank
• Mormon Tabernacle Choir
• The Philadelphia Marathon
• KYW Radio
• Barnes & Noble at University of Pennsylvania
• Christie Digital of North America
The restaurant is vendor approved at most venues and has a liquor license. Whether it is the University of Pennsylvania, the African American Museum, the Power Plant, or the open air of the Ben Franklin Parkway, Winnie's puts on a great event. Consider Winnie's for your next lunch-and-learn, board meeting, holiday gala, or wedding. A catering consultant will help you every step of the way.
